Vanilla is the fruit of a thick green orchid vine (planifolia andrews or tahitensis) that grows wild on the edge of the tropical forests. The vines, when grown wild, will grow up around a tree. Commercially, the vines are pruned for a few reasons. One, is that the vines will not flower until they stop growing. And two, the vines need to be at a height where workers can reach them.

A coffee bean is a seed of the Coffea plant and the source for coffee. It is the pip inside the red or purple fruit often referred to as a cherry. Just like ordinary cherries, the coffee fruit is also a so-called stone fruit. Even though the coffee beans are not technically beans, they are referred to as such because of their resemblance to true beans. The fruits; cherries or berries, most commonly contain two stones with their flat sides together.

The cocoa bean or simply cocoa, which is also called the cacao bean or cacao, is the dried and fully fermented seed of Theobroma cacao, from which cocoa solids (a mixture of nonfat substances) and cocoa butter (the fat) can be extracted. Cocoa beans are the basis of chocolate, and Mesoamerican foods including tejate, an indigenous Mexican drink that also includes maize.
